About Us
Who We Are:
MUSWIT is a faith-based, non-governmental organization comprised of female Muslim teachers in Ghana, united under one umbrella of unity and peace. We aim to promote girl child education and women empowerment, fostering a brighter future for our community.
Our Story:
Motivated by compassion and concern, we came together to address critical issues affecting our community, including:
The alarming rate of girls dropping out of school.
Extreme poverty among women, leading to hopelessness.
To combat these challenges, we initiated programs to equip girls and women with essential employable skills, breaking the cycle of poverty and despair.
Mission & Vision

Our Journey
The Struggles:
For centuries, Muslim girls and women in Africa have faced obstacles stemming from cultural and religious misconceptions, which hinder progress, disconnect them from modern opportunities, and thwart career aspirations and potential.
Key Obstacles:
Child Marriage: Early marriage denies girls access to higher education, limiting prospects.
Religious Misconceptions: Misinterpreted religious beliefs restrict girls’ access to formal education.
Poverty: Widespread poverty forces families to prioritize subsistence over education.
Harmful Cultural Norms: Early marriage and restrictive cultural values suppress aspirations and potential.
MUSWIT Zongo Empowerment Program (MUZWIT ZEP):
MUSWIT for Women (MFW): Targeting married Muslim women, single mothers, survivors of child trafficking and early marriage, and unemployed young Muslim women.
MUSWIT for Girls (MFG): Focused on Muslim girls in community basic schools.
MUSWIT for Boys (MFB): Assisting unemployed Muslim young men and school dropouts.
